Psychoeducational Assessments

East Lake Centre offers many assessments, including psychoeducational assessments. A psychoeducational evaluation is an in-depth assessment of a student’s cognitive, academic, and social functioning.

A psychoeducational evaluation can pinpoint learning difficulties in people of many different age groups, ranging from small children to adults. It evaluates many processes related to learning, including attention, memory, processing speed, motor skills, language, and phonological processing. It can identify a person’s many strengths and weaknesses, as well as learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and intellectual disabilities. You’ll be provided with specific school and home recommendations to best support learning and socio-emotional functioning.

Psychoeducational assessments are valuable and crucial for many reasons – early identification of learning challenges, educational planning to tailor success in the student’s academic life, and accommodations and support in school. They play an important role in ensuring that children, teens and young adults receive the best support and resources necessary to overcome learning challenges and succeed academically.
